Sporty Flashbacks:

I'm home from work under the weather but on cloud nine for two reasons:

1. Today, February 3rd is the birthday of my late grandmother Susie Mae Sanders, who passed away August 2010. As much as her presence is missed, her legacy is so much stronger. She was a former nurse, who retired physically, but not mentally from her trade, an ongoing learner, and a true historian. I remember as a little girl going to Trident Tech with my grandmother, she took classes there. She was so excited and eager to share what she was learning. She could run the history down on any person or thing from its creation to current date! She was also a sports fan, who always shared stories of her days playing basketball in high school. Must be where my "sporty" gene came from! And even more important than all of that, she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. I can still hear her voice on the other end of the phone saying "Yeah, I'm still here (gives her address) ...*then an awkard silence*" as I giggle and she tells me I'm right to laugh. She didn't hold anything back, LOVE you Grandma! She will be missed by all of us but I thank God for the lessons I learned through her life and even in her death.

2. Also three years ago on this day, my New York Football Giants made me and so many other fans the happiest people on the face of the earth by winning Super Bowl XLII. The "world" had already crowned the Patriots as "Undefeated" and my Gmen showed up, and in a little over a minute, showed out! Remember Manning's escape, which set up The Catch, followed later by the Steve Smith first down which led to The Game Winning Touchdown .  I still remember the naseau, the chills, and the final thrill!

I only hope the Packers and Steelers are able to make this Super Bowl Sunday just as exciting! Well of course it won't really be "just as" but you know what I mean! SUPERBOWL XLV riding hard with the NFC. GO PACK GO...okay, that still feels so wrong !
